All Mom needs to have is plain high quality pellets nothing with treats in it I suggest Oxbow, She needs lots and lots of hay Alfalfa is great for nursing moms as it provides extra calcuim safely. She will also need fresh water daily, You can also get Lifeline from chocolatchinchillas.com and oats from Ryersonchinchillas.com that would be great for her. Stop giving her almonds nuts are really really bad for chinchillas, they cause fatty liver disease I would also aviod raisins otherthan a very rare ocasion. Chinchillas shouldn't recieve any more than 1 treat per day. Many people give a plain cheerio, plain shredded wheat or a rosehip.

Hi. I was just looking for an answer for the question what extra should I feed my chinchilla mom? I had a kit about 3 weeks ago and he is fine and growing, but I noticed mommy a bit thinner than normal. I feed her normal pellets and some extra bits from mixed food, plus hay and calcium chew, and never give them too many treats, maybe ocasionally an almond or a raisin. Should I give her any extras? By the way the pregnancy wasn't planned and I had the male neutered, but a bit too late, unfortunatelly. i was worried to loose him if he was too young. If you have the time please write on the e-mail above. Thank you so much! From Amirah, Lulu, Noor and baby Gizmo!

I do not usually name the babies I plan on selling. All of my breeding animals have names and so do the babies I keep for show. You can see all of the names of my current animals throughout the website

Hi Kristi it's Katie from email. I was wondering if the chinchillas come with names. If they do, do you have any named pepper, nacho, bananana, or any other cute names.
